Smart Fire Detection System
Project Overview
Safety automation is one of the most critical aspects of IoT. The Smart Fire Detection System is an embedded computing project designed by Sreehari Viju to monitor spaces for sudden thermal spikes and volatile compound concentrations. Combining specialized IR flame sensors, gas modules, and an ultra-responsive NodeMCU microcontroller, this system detects high-risk environmental factors before a fire expands.
Key Features & Implementation
- Dynamic Sensing Network: Multiple sensor pins linked directly to a NodeMCU microchip read temperature, smoke, and light profiles in parallel.
- Local and Remote Triggers: Integrates an immediate local piezo alarm combined with high-priority remote MQTT alerts to sound notifications anywhere.
- Automated Isolation: Capable of overriding local power switches or triggering mechatronic extinguishers to mitigate hazards.
Challenges Solved
Eliminating false alerts due to normal temperature variations or bright ambient light required deploying filtering algorithms inside the NodeMCU controller. Calibrating the sensor inputs to cross-verify signatures against multiple thresholds dramatically decreased anomalies while improving critical emergency reactions.
