Smart Robotic Arm
Project Overview
As a robotics enthusiast from Trivandrum, I designed and built a Smart Robotic Arm using an Arduino UNO and six servo motors, replicating the degrees of freedom found in industrial pick-and-place systems. The arm can be programmed to execute repeatable motion sequences, making it ideal for basic manufacturing automation demonstrations and educational purposes.
Key Features & Implementation
- 6-DOF Control: Six independently controllable servo motors provide full freedom of movement, enabling complex multi-axis positioning.
- Joystick Interface: A dual-axis joystick controller provides intuitive real-time manual control of each joint for precise positioning.
- Sequence Playback: Programmed motion recording and playback capability allows automated repetition of learned pick-and-place routines.
Challenges Solved
Coordinating six servo motors simultaneously without causing signal interference or power brown-outs required careful PWM timing management. By implementing a dedicated power distribution board and optimizing the Arduino servo library's update intervals, smooth and synchronized motion was achieved across all joints.
